Armenia Wine – VanArdi – Voskevaz

Wine is considered to be one of the oldest and most mysterious drinks, which serves the base for numerous legends for every nation. Let’s start the day with interesting information about wine that is unknown for many.

Armenians were the first in the world to make wine. During the diggings near the village of Areni, archaeologists discovered clay vessels, cups and grape stones intended for crushing, fermenting and storing grapes. This proves that winemaking was common in Armenia more than 6,000 years ago.

The word “wine” is of Sanskrit origin, which means “Love”.

Let’s go to the Aragatsotn region following those footsteps towards that love, discover the mysterious world of wine.

“Armenia Wine” is a family company, which is guided by love for the country, respect for traditions and nature. Here we will have a meaningful tour in the factory, where we will get acquainted with the entire process of wine production, taste the wine while enjoying the peculiarities of tasting.

We will continue our discoveries with “Van Ardi”, which is an Italian-style winery with endless vineyards and a bell tower. The company’s motto reflects the concept of winemaking so vividly. “We treat wine as a new person to take care of, to learn from.” The name “Van Ardi” translates as “Van’s sun”, and the kingdom of Van, in its turn, was the state of Urartu, the center of winemaking in the ancient world.

The path of our discoverers will take us to Ashtarak, the ancient settlement of Armenia, a haven full of many cultural monuments, demonstrating national life and traditions. Here we will have a short city tour.

The next stop will be at the Voskevaz factory. Voskevaz Wine Factory creates elegant, richly flavored wines from the oldest types of local grapes, twining the region’s winemaking traditions and modern technologies.

In the evening we will return to Yerevan drunk with pleasure, not being able to clearly distinguish good wine from the best wine.
