Extreme Armenia

Being a country of multi-layered climate zones Armenia is a great place to enjoy climbing, mountain bike riding, drifting, and many other types of extreme sports. With this in mind we have created this Extreme tour in Armenia which will help you enjoy and be safe at the same time.

Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan                                                                                                                               

Welcome at the airport and transfer to hotel. No program for the evening to explore Yerevan.

Day 2

Breakfast at the Resort.

Further trip to Sevan-Yenokavan-Zipline-Rope Park – Horseback riding- Night in Apaga resort

Lake Sevan is the largest lake in Armenia and one of the biggest alpine lakes of the world. Here we see the monastery of the Holy Apostles called Sevanavanq, which was founded in 874 by Princess Mariam Bagratuni.

Yenoqavan is located in Tavush region. As the first extreme amusement park in Armenia, it gives an opportunity to do extreme sports without being a professional.

In the Rope Park visitors can do a wide variety of sport elements such as rope climbing exercises, obstacle courses and zip-lines. Neither climbing techniques nor special physical fitness experience are necessary.

Apaga is a rare place in Armenia with perfect conditions for equestrian tourism. Club provides a unique opportunity for relaxation in the mountains of Armenia situated at 1390 meters above sea level. The comfortable cottages and cozy houses of “Apaga-Gomer” Club combine the traditional style of Armenian houses with the amenities of contemporary accommodation.

Day 3

Then, Jeep Tour in Dilijan – Mountain Biking – Paintball – Lastiver- Paragliding (Optional)*

Mountain biking is the sport of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially designed mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain.

Paintball is a modern, quickly evolving adrenalin sport, which requires more than just speed, agility, strength and a good physical condition. During paintball you will need a great deal of tactical thinking while staying coolheaded. You will experience joy and euphoria from victory as well as disappointment, when you find out how easy one can lose.

Lastiver is one of the most popular sights in Tavush region. The name of the region derives from Tavush country of historic Great Hayk. Today’s territory partially corresponds to the previous one. The region is rich in rivers. The largest is Aghstev; one of its significant tributaries – Kachaghbyur, leads to the wonderful corners of Ijevan, to Lastiver. Cave, desert, swift river, small and huge waterfalls, forest and wonderful nature.

Tourists from abroad, as well as locals, come to see this awesome cave-desert. The road itself is very interesting and attractive, especially for extreme lovers.

Day 4

Then the trip will continue to Aragats – Amberd-Qari lich

Aragats is the highest mountain top in Armenia and the fourth in the territory of Armenian Highlands. It is also the highest point of Transcaucasia. Aragats is extinct volcano, which can be seen from city of Yerevan and Shirak, Kotayk and Aragatsotn provinces. It has of 4 peaks, the highest of which is the Northern (4090m), and the lowest – the Southern (3879m) – that is of our concern. Climbing the Northern peak requires more serious preparedness, while the Southern is more preferable for non-professional climbers.

Amberd.  The place of the fortress was wisely chosen: the builders took advantage of the singularities of the mountainous terrain and like the fortress of Garni it was built on a triangular promontory defended by two sides with deep crevices and only the third side is protected with a solid wall. The fortress is at the height of 2300 meters and it was called Amberd, which means fortress is in the clouds.

Amberd is one of the few preserved feudal castles in Armenia today. The castle walls of Amberd are made of large blocks of basalt. The style is very severe, without ornaments and decorations. In 1026 one of the finest churches of Armenia was built. The architect built it on a sharp rock and its architecture is very severe.

Excavations in 1929 uncovered many objects of Amberd undoubtedly brought to Armenia from different eastern and western countries, as well as a Roman bath.

Day 5

Garni-Geghard-Havuc Tar

In the morning we will drive to Kotayk region. On the way Charents Arch (view on Mt Ararat).

Visit Geghard monastery (12-13th cc.) (meaning “the Monastery of the Spear”, originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus during his crucifixion, allegedly brought to Armenia by Apostle Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. There is a sacred spring inside a cave. The monastery had thus been originally named Ayrivank, meaning “the Monastery of the Cave”. The group members will have the opportunity to sing/hear singing a capello in the natural acoustic hall of Geghard, carved in rocky, too.

We will then visit the unique pagan temple (1st c. A.D.) and the fortress (2nd c. B.C.) in Garni village. Reaching Havuts Tar which is an 11th to 13th century walled monastery, situated upon a promontory along the Azat River Valley across from the villages of Goght and Garni.

Return to Yerevan.

Day 6:

Breakfast at the hotel, checkout, transfer to the airport departure.
